ENGIE and Arkema have signed a new 8-year agreement for the supply of 25 GWh/year of renewable biomethane in France. This will cover 85% of the gas consumption of three Arkema Bostik sites, further reducing the company’s carbon footprint and supporting its energy transition.
“This contract is a major step in our energy transition. It reflects our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and supporting our customers in their own decarbonization journey” said Vincent Legros, CEO of the Adhesives segment (Bostik).
This new deal follows the first long-term biomethane agreement signed in 2023, in which ENGIE committed to supplying 300 GWh/year of biomethane to Arkema, which is one of the largest private biomethane contracts in Europe to date. By expanding their collaboration, the two companies reinforce their shared ambition to accelerate the decarbonization of industrial energy supply.
“This second Biomethane Purchase Agreement (BPA) between Arkema and ENGIE confirms the success of the first. As a major player in the biomethane sector in France, ENGIE is proud to support Arkema in the decarbonization of its activities through this new long-term commitment.” said Edouard Chevalier, Managing Director and Risk Management & Supply for Energy Management activities at ENGIE.
