ENGIE and G&V Energy Group have partnered to deploy a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Belgium, supporting the electrification of mobility while enhancing energy flexibility and efficiency and operational performance.
G&V Energy Group, active in fuel stations, EV charging infrastructure and retail activities, is directly addressing this challenge with the support of ENGIE. By implementing a BESS solution, G&V can store energy when conditions are favourable and use it when it brings the most value.
Battery storage to support EV charging and operational performance
The installation helps G&V better manage its energy consumption, smooth demand peaks and optimise the use of locally produced electricity. It also strengthens the resilience of its operations, particularly as EV charging infrastructure continues to expand.
Beyond operational efficiency, the BESS creates additional value by enabling participation in energy markets and flexibility services. This turns storage into more than a technical asset: it becomes a lever for performance.
Why BESS matters for energy flexibility?
Battery Energy Storage Systems provide a concrete answer to several challenges faced by businesses today:
- Improved cost control through peak shaving and load balancing
- Reduced exposure to electricity price fluctuations
- Better use of on-site or locally generated energy
- Additional value through flexibility services and grid support
ENGIE’s role: designing and optimising tailored flexibility solutions
This project highlights ENGIE’s ability to design and deliver tailored flexibility solutions, combining energy analysis, system design and advanced optimisation capabilities.
By supporting customers across the full value chain, from project structuring to implementation and performance optimisation, ENGIE helps businesses make their energy systems more efficient, more resilient and ready for the future.
